Wrapping up 2025: How It Started vs How It’s Going

When we started Compris, our goal was simple but ambitious, to transform how behavioral health and addictions were being assessed and treated, and to help create health and wellness parity with other chronic illnesses.

At first we completed pilots with addiction providers and peer recovery groups to help guide clinical decisions and support using Compris’ data-driven Wellness Guide and Care Plan. As Compris evolved, we expanded our model to quantifying resilience and motivation, and their impact on risk to drive wellness. We expanded our pilots to outreach programs, reentry, and drug courts.

Along the way,  we’ve had hundreds of conversations at conferences and meetings, with providers, healthcare systems, insurance companies, grassroots outreach programs, treatment courts, veterans, and peer recovery folks. A highlight of our journey was the time we spent with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL), where mentors believed in our work and helped us strengthen our model even further.

After completing eight pilots with seven distinct populations, and deeper user experience research tests, we arrived at a pivotal point. We’ve distilled all the things we’ve learned and developed what we see is a scalable way to break through the systemic barriers that continue to drive poor outcomes and high costs for behavioral health and addictions.

What’s become clear is that treatment parity is unlikely to happen without meaningful engagement from health systems and payers. Reducing care gaps across populations and settings is key. That realization has reshaped our focus and defined where we’ve landed.

All this makes Compris what it is today and led to more inroads with key stakeholders and our 2025 comprehensive white paper.

Building Compris hasn’t been easy, We were often told that a startup was “a heavy lift, or “one of the most difficult things you’ll ever do in your life.” And they were right. Looking back, we can see how far we've come, and we’re still here, learning, pushing forward, and growing.

In spite of recent headwinds, the discussions we're having make us optimistic that we are on the right path. We are truly grateful working alongside so many dedicated innovators, disruptors, and leaders who want to go beyond the status quo and are committed to advancing behavioral health and addiction care.

We hope in 2026, you’ll also join us. Please schedule a demo.

Happy holidays!
